Occupational First Aid Transportation Endorsement

The transportation endorsement course is a WorkSafeBC approved one day programme focused on developing practical skills in patient handling techniques and patient securing procedures


Prerequisites

Candidates must be at least 16 years of age and be able to understand and perform the first aid skills required to complete the learning tasks.

Candidate must hold a valid WCB Occupational First Aid level 1 or level 2 certificate (or its equivalent).


Certification

Evaluation of candidate is done by the class instructor. Successful completion of course objectives will result in a WCB endorsement to the Occupational First Aid Level 1 or 2 certificate. The transportation endorsement is valid for three years from the date of its issuance.

To renew a transportation endorsement a candidate must hold a valid Occupational First Aid certificate and successfully retake the transportation endorsement course.


Course Objectives

Students will learn the following skills:

  • Patient Handling and Lifting Techniques.

  • Use of the Spine Board and Basket Stretchers.

  • Spinal immobilization techniques.

  • Patient Assessment and Treatment During Transport.

  • Critical Interventions. (Airway Management, Respiratory Emergencies, Oxygen Therapy)

  • Transportation Vehicles.

  • Aircraft Transportation.

  • Applicable First Aid Regulations.

The WCB Transportation Endorsement course is $90. Our transportation endorsement classes are usually held on one Thursday of each month. If you don't see a date that suits you here, please call us as you may be able to join an existing group. Group rates are available for those employers wishing to choose their own dates. Currently, we have the following dates scheduled:
